Configuring Mail.app for IMAP in the SCS Environment
Providing Your Account Information
When started for the first time, Mail.app will need to be configured from scratch.
When starting up without any settings, Mail.app will first ask you for three pieces of information:
- Your Name (this is how your name will appear on outgoing messages)
- Email address (this is the address you give to others so they can send you mail)
- Password (this is your SCS mail instance password)

Configuring IMAP
On the next configuration page, yo will need to set up your incoming account information. Username and Password should already be filled in for you. Be sure to check the following settings:
- Account Type: IMAP
- Description: SCS IMAP
- Incoming Mail Server: imap.srv.cs.cmu.edu

Configuring SMTP
On the next configuration page, yo will need to set up your incoming account information. Username and Password should already be filled in for you. Be sure to check the following settings:
- Description: SCS IMAP
- Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.srv.cs.cmu.edu
- Use Authentication: checked

Confirming Your Settings
You should now be able to confirm your settings before taking your account online:
To take the account online, click the "create" button.
