Example of Problem
Our friend Harry Bovik scheduled a meeting for Monday March 12. He used Oracle Calendar to reserve the meeting room Wean 8220 from 10AM until 11AM.
Harry made this reservation for Wean 8220 conference room before Feb 4th. As a result, he made the reservation for Monday March 12 10AM EST.
On Febuary 4th, the administrators for the Oracle Calendar server applied the updates. The updates determine what timezones are in effect on March 12.
When the Oracle Calendar system is updated, Harry's reservation will move from 10AM Standard Time to 11AM Daylight Savings Time. Once the updates are applied, all reservations from March 11 until April 1 2007 will appear to be moved forward one hour.
Double Booking
Harry is patient and understands that some adjustments must be made. So he attempts to move his meeting, which is now scheduled for 11AM EDT back one hour. The problem is that someone originally scheduled a meeting for 9AM EST. Which was moved by the update to 10AM EDT.
The meeting room can not be double booked. Two people can not reserve the room for overlapping or conflicting events.
When Harry attempts to move his reservation, because there is another reservation in the time slot he wants, he will have to wait or encourage the holder of the conflicting reservation back one hour.
CMU SCS Resources and Meeting Rooms
Currently, SCS Facilities is planning to move or manually adjust the events on the resources back one hour from EST to EDT.
We will do this to events scheduled for SCS resources. Will will not do this on resources on Andrew's server or personal calendars.
We will do this for resources and meeting rooms from March 11 until April 1 2007. And we will do this for resources From October 28 until Nov 4. This is a one time adjustment. We will only do this for events in 2007. We will not do this for events in 2008 and beyond.
