Transportation From Airport
For those arriving at Pittsburgh International Airport, one of the
easiest ways to get to the University is by bus . From the
main terminal area, follow the signs for "Ground Transportation." The
Airport Shuttle Bus serves many of the hotels in the Oakland
Area. (The university is situated in the part of Pittsburgh called
Oakland, about ten minutes from downtown and thirty minutes from the
Airport.) Buses (ask for the Oakland bus) leave approximately once an
hour on week days, less frequently at weekends, from the lower level
of the airport and cost $12.50. The shuttle bus stops at the Best
Western, the Hampton Inn (on request), the Holiday Inn and at Webster
Hall, one block away from the music department. The last shuttle bus
to Oakland leaves the airport at 9 pm on weekdays.
An even cheaper alternative is to take public transportation . The Port
Authority of Allegheny County operates an airport bus (designated 28X)
which runs to Oakland approximately every 30 minutes. The price for
this service is around $2, and the trip to Pitt takes around 45
minutes. For specific schedules, see bus schedule (Get off at the
Oakland/Pitt University Exit, Forbes and Schenley).
There are also a number of taxi services available at the airport.
