Here is the original email from VMware: ----- The VMware Academic Program invites you to submit nominations for the VMware Graduate Fellowships for the 2015/2016 awards. Nominees must be PhD students that will not graduate sooner than May 2016. The Fellowship is a 12-month award that will begin with a summer internship at VMware in 2015, after which VMware will pay the student's full tuition and fees for the subsequent academic year, and provide a stipend of $35,000. The internship is an integral part of the Fellowship that we believe will enable the Fellows to maximize the value of their relationship with VMware. Eligibility o At the time of application, applicants must be currently enrolled, full-time Ph.D. students. o Applicants must be nominated by their academic department (limit of two nominations per department). o Nominations are only accepted from academic departments invited to participate in this program. We ask that you not forward this announcement as you are receiving this invitation as a member of select group of schools. o The award cannot be one of several corporate fellowship awards to the student. Application A faculty member (e.g., the PhD advisor) must provide the following application materials: o Three letters of recommendations: one from the student's PhD advisor, one from another faculty member familiar with the student's work, and a third from either another faculty member or, in the case of students that completed a VMware internship, the VMware manager or mentor. o Current CV for the student o Statement of research objectives o Applications must be submitted to Rita Tavilla, rtavilla@vmware.com, by Monday, December 5, 2014 – 12:00midnight (PST). We will announce the winners of the awards before the end of January 2015. Students shortlisted for the Fellowship will be notified by the end of November to discuss internship opportunities, but students who wish to discuss internship opportunities sooner, should let us know promptly.
