Random Listings of Nostalgic or Historical Note
Everyone who's passed through, from September 1987 to the
present. Contains tables, but there's also a table-free version.
Most of the in-jokes would be pretty lame if I tried
explaining them (especially well over a decade after they were
written), but here they are anyway.
Low-level characters generally stay dead. Mid-level
characters, on the other hand, are often worth reviving...as long as
they can pay the price (which is never as simple as gold, of
course).
This story is actually from Rahul's PNG campaign, but this
seemed like the place for it.
Campaign Song Parodies
- Pillage, Rape, and Loot
and Burn
- Presented by Matt in 1990 to the tune of Supercalifragilistic; Dan
quickly pointed out it could also be sung to Yankee Doodle.
- Home on the Plane
- Erich wrote this during the party's first trip to the drow plane in March 1991.
(It certainly poked a hole in G's story about spending a few months on
the wandering minstrel circuit during an absence from the party; maybe
he just told stories and strummed a little tune while he talked, eh?)
- Are You Sleeping,
NPC?
- Concocted by Erich, Stan, and Gita during a drive home from
Pittsburgh in November 1992, partly because the party had just
discovered the joy of tracking down Nirduk operatives and killing them in their
sleep, and partly because there was nothing good on the radio.
Performed (as a round, which was only proper) by Stan, Erich, Matt,
Dan, and even Gita on New Year's Eve, 1992-3, which must have been a
frightening experience for Rahul.
- Hellward Bound
- Dan wrote this one while the party debated a trip to Acheron in
August 1997, providing the impetus for this part of the nostalgia
page. (Let's face it, I wouldn't be adding this section to
immortalize "Home on the Plane" :-)
- Rockabye Red One
- During the party's first night on the Dustplane, Silvana sang a
lullaby to help the Chaotics get to sleep. Erich figured this
probably wasn't it.
- Songs of Insanity
- One of Ganeth's Dustplane insanities was euphoria in battle, which
he expressed by singing in melee. Here's what he came up with. (Just
remember he was nuts when he sang them.)
