Population Genetics

Population Genetics 1: Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium

In a single problem, students are given parental genotypes for two populations and compute parental allele frequencies and offspring population genotype and allele frequencies. Students identify which of the four populations is in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium and note that a population will move into Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in a single generation when the Hardy-Weinberg assumptions apply.

Students are given population phenotypes and compute whether the population is in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium.

 

 

Population Genetics 3: Departures from Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium

Students model and reason about the impact of selection pressure, inbreeding and sex-linkage on population genotype and allele frequencies.
