Using Programmable Shading Hardware: CineFX and Cg
Cem Cebenoyan, Nvidia
In the past, graphics hardware operated as a complex state machine which
was simply configured and then fed data to process. Today's hardware is
a hybrid. Some parts are fully programmable while other parts behave
like configurable state machines. This lecture introduces these new
programmable graphics architectures and the software tools needed for
their effective use.
Cem Cebenoyan is a software engineer in the Developer Technology group at
NVIDIA, where he spends his days researching graphics techniques and working
with game developers to get the most out of graphics hardware. Before
joining NVIDIA, Cem was a student at Georgia Tech and worked in their
Graphics, Visualization, and Usability Lab.
