Lecture 6: Cut Elimination

We present the proof of cut elimination (Gentzen's Hauptsatz) which, in one way or another, is the basis for most current theorem proving procedures. As a simple consequence we obtain the normalization theorem for natural deduction and the independence of various classical laws.
