My name is Field Cady, and I'm a Phd student at CMU working on the Claytronics project under Seth Goldstein and Gary Miller . I work on getting Claytronic ensembles to assemble themselves into specific geometric shapes, such as regular polyhedra and spheres. My hope is that by solving these fairly simple problems I can discover a more general approach to engineering reconfigurable matter.
Here is a page for the final project for my computer architecture class. We're trying to write software that automatically finds the optimal numbers of cores to use for a parallel program.
Here is a page for my research collaborators. It includes links to relevant papers.
I did my undergrad at Stanford, where I dual-majored in physics and math, and I have a M.S. in applied math from the University of Washington, where my research was on statistical biophysics.
Here is my resume.
In my spare time I like running, working out, cooking and reading. I try to stay up-to-date on politics and science.
