Session Forty-Seven

Although the decision to press on to the next unexplored wing of the wizard's lair had been made, only Tyrion made it through, through the assistance of West's Earth Elemental opening the trapped doors. The rest of the adventured deciding, instead, to remain in the main entryway. He quickly searched what appeared to be the wizard's office, stashing what he could inside his bag, and crept down to invesitgate the iron spiral staircase leading to further depths. Seeing water below, with inhabitants, he returned upstairs to await the reopening of the doors. Meanwhile, West flew up the tunnel to see who the new threat was. Seeing but seven humanoids, Anne climbed the tunnel to see himself, and determined that there were outerplains-folk called Githyanki. As they were bruning incense in the skulls outside of the case, thus disabling the deadly door traps, both sides waited for the other to be the first to traverse the narrow tunnel. Tired of waiting, and sure that the traps were disabled, the party decided to attack first, but by Gronk, Tribben, and Tyrion making use of the crystal circle to attain magical access to the outside. A bried battle ensued, where a few Githyanki fell, then all vanished when it became clear that they could not win the fight.

Their energies nearly spent, it was decided that rest was in order. The following day, the party returned to the lair to clear out what remained. This included discovering and dispatching the evil undead mist found within the magical jail controlled by the levers as described in the wizard's discovered notes. Also, West investigated the water, dispatching, easily, several creatures below the surface. A small tunnel leading out to sea was also discovered there. Finally, an investigation of the hut outside of the cave and wizard's lair showed that the man within had been murdered, probably by Githyanki, thus casting doubt as to their allegience.

Their task complete, the adventures returned to Tourache Mach to report their mission successful. He gave several ideas on how to next proceed with assisting in Onnwal's plight including escorting a supply ship, interfering with Brotherhood ships, direct attacks on either the Brotherhood or the Wild Coast. Other ideas included diplomatic or investigary missions to Hippomanland savages, a suspected blue dragon in the Bright Desert, or even to Bigby himself, who has provided some aid to Onnwal, his homeland. Eager restock after their battles, the party then returned home to Irongate.
