Before the wizard can react, the party attacks him. He quickly tosses out a fireball, and puts up a defensive shield allowing him time to prepare some spells. Meanwhile a giant crystalline construct slowly advances, knocking down the crystals surrounding the teleportation circle that can now be seen in the room beyond the wizard.
The party unleashes a magical barrage at the contruct, all of which seem to have no effect. The fighters move in to test steel where magic has failed and have a similarly difficult time, but do manage to chip it a little. It hits back hard.
To keep it busy, West summons first an elephant, then the power of the earth itself to fight the construct. He attempts to empower these allies further, but the crystal being is a magic-bane and stops these spells too.
Finally, the wizard completes his preparations, lets down his shield, and attacks again. Tyrion is ready for him, but is unable to stop the spell, likewise Anne. Triben and Tyrion are within range of another awesome fireball, but both survive the blow. Triben now has the opporunity he's been waiting for. He rushes forward, pushes out his hand, and with a simple touch, calls down the power of heaven to fell this wizard, who crumples in a heap.
Seeking time for the party to escape to safety, Triben traps the golem inside a magical barrier and begins to climb the bone ladder. Only then does the party realize the way they came in is no longer free of enemies. A final stroke of luck has the golem falling to Nature's called might, still trapped in the room with it.
With the easy way out blocked, the party decides to push on and finish exploring the wizard's laboratory, in the hopes of finding out a sure way to undo the magics that are allowing the Brotherhood to continue to control the sea.
