looking to buy me a birthday present? or just to find out more about me? Here, in the order they came to me, are a bunch of...
Things I like:
My friends - they're the best, you should really get to know them.
Music - I don't think this one is too surprising, but music is a great thing. It makes you happy when you're done, and makes you even more happy when you're already happy. iTunes is great b/c it let's you listen to music that other people have on their playlists, sweet.
Politics - Well, you could actually say that I hate politics but love government... but let's be honest they are inseparable. I love reading about the latest news from Washington and I hope to get to work there soon.
the Internet - Let's face it, it's an amazing idea that is constantly changing our world. Just try going without it for a couple days and see how out of touch with your friends and your world you feel. It is an amazing social phenomenon and a staggering technological feat and I think I want to spend my career trying to make it better.
Spell-check - This one has come in handy so many times I can't image * what I would do without it.
Sleep - Remember when we were little kids and whined about having to go to bed early? yeah, when was the last time that happened.
Slashdot - A "news for nerds" website with lots of updates about tech related stuff. Hey, didn't anyone tell you that everyone at Stanford is a nerd in something?
Soto - My dorm at Stanford... a bunch of fun people.
Stanford - My school. Not that I don't have any complaints about it, but overall I love the place.
The letter "S" - My last five things have started with S, and I could probably come up with more. I have also found that I like to come up with nicknames that start with an "S", even if the person's name doesn't.
The Onion - This satire paper started out in my home state of Wisconsin (another thing I like). Quite frankly, its hilarious, especially the infographics and horoscopes.
The color GREEN - Always have, probably always will. I like grey too.
Tennis - Though I didn't start playing until 9th grade, this is by far my favorite sport.
A good book - though I can't remember the last time I read fiction that wasn't for a class. yeah, I have to get on that one.
Movies - When it comes to vegging out and wasting time, few things beat a movie that is either funny, serious, or somewhere in between.
Linux - Ok, so this is a geeky one, but you have to admit that the entire concept of free software is nothing short of incredible. Basically, a bunch of people create something in their free time that rivals a product that costs hundreds a dollars, and then they give it away for free. The same thing goes for other projects like Mozilla and OpenOffice. Yes, we are in a digital age and things are going to be DIFFERENT.
Accountability - This is a bit general, but I think an important quality in any person or organization is that they own up to what they've done. This is not to say that I'm perfect, but I try.
Snow - Living in California, this is probably the one thing I miss most about Wisconsin. You know, that white stuff that turns brown and slushy, then freezes on your car windshield. Wait, maybe I don't like it so much after all.
The Packers and the Cubs - Growing up in Wisconsin, these are the only two professional sports teams I was taught to love.
Getting up early - Yeah, this is a weird one, but I actually like getting up early in the morning, grabbing some breakfast and getting some work done. Of course it's not really all that early, just early considering I live on a college campus.
San Francisco - I lived there for the summer after my freshman year, and its a good city. Big enough to have lot's going on, but no so big that it's a dangerous place.
That's all for now....
