My office is DH 4301F. It is, I believe, intentionally located in one of the most obscure, out-of-the-way places on campus, clearly chosen by the powers that be to inhibit people from finding me.
DH is the abbreviation for Doherty Hall. It is physically joined to Wean Hall, whose abbreviation is WeH. The entrance to Doherty Hall that is nearest my office is shown at the right side of this photo of Wean Hall. You may also enter Doherty through the main entrance by the clock. Once you are in the building, your troubles have just begun.
If you require the use of a wheelchair, or have difficulty climbing stairs, don't even consider coming to visit me in my office. You'll never get there, because no elevator travels to the floor I'm on. When Doherty was built, my office was part of the attic, not intended for human habitation, which may be one of the reasons they stuck me here. When the attic was renovated and my office constructed, the University was careful to follow the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The area where my office is located is "handicap accessible" to anyone who can get into the area in the first place. Unfortunately, someone with a disability that prevents their climbing stairs won't be able to get there on their own.
There are multiple routes to the fourth floor of Doherty, but my section of the floor is not connected with the others. If you climb the wrong stairs, which is highly likely, you'll find yourself in some other department where no one will acknowledge ever having heard of me nor have any information about my whereabouts. The stairs to my office are the ones nearest the connection between Doherty and Wean.
Once you get to the fourth floor where my office is located, enter the door to the 4300 corridor. Outside regular business hours, which I do not generally keep, the door will be locked. On the wall beside the door is a telephone which you can use to call me and try to persuade me to come let you in. My number is on the directory next to the phone. (That directory is sometimes printed with an incorrect email address for me.) Once inside the corridor, proceed to your left to the animation lab. Sometimes it is locked, in which case you will have to call me to let you in. Once inside the animation lab, go to the corridor on the right and there you will find my office. You will be happy to know that my name is on the door.
