Last night on IRC, with coaching from Ralph Hilton, I rendered some Hubbardese into (nearly) plain English!! I am here to tell everyone that IRC Technology works!!! I am SO HAPPY that J. Oikarinen, D. Reed, and other authors of RFC149 revealed to the world this magnificent new Technology that REALLY WORKS to EXPAND our ability to comprehend the turgid prose of a 3rd-rate sci-fi hack!!!! Thank you, NWG!!!!! Thank you all!!!!!! SIGNIFICANCE: This passage (purports to) explain why a Scientologist, after attaining the state of Clear (and paying dearly for that exalted status), needs the special form of auditing presented in NOTS (New Era Dianetics for Operating Thetans). In the bait & switch con of Scientology, this the switch. It says, "Ha, fooled you: you *can't* stop at Clear!" ORIGINAL HUBBARDESE (MAYONNAISE, ACTUALLY): A Dianetic or Scientology Clear has erased his own bank and has no pictures. Any attempt to run a Dn or Scn Clear on Dianetics, NED, XDN [extended Dianetics] or any R3R [Routine 3 Revised], causes restimulation of BTs and clusters, and it is their pictures he sees and tries to run as his own, which is a *misownership* of the incident/picture. As he thinks it's his picture he *misidentifies* himself with the BT or cluster whose picture it is. (From NOTs Series 2: WHY YOU CAN'T RUN ENGRAMS AFTER CLEAR) ENGLISH TRANSLATION: A "Clear" has removed from his *own* Reactive Mind all engrams created by *himself*. Since engrams are recorded in the Reactive Mind as mental images (ie, "mental image pictures"), such a person no longer has any of these images interfering with his life. Once "clear" of engrams one has accumulated during his present (and past) lives, further processing of any kind exposes only engrams implanted into your "space" by (or in) something else. When those engrams are found, the "Clear" might mistakenly believe he was reponsible for them, when in fact he is not. Not only will the "clear" mistakenly believe he caused these engrams, but he'll believe he himself is someone else! WORD-CLEARING FOR WOGS: mayo Much (if not most) of L. Ron Hubbard's "Religious Technology" was written by others under his name. Of course, the *copyrights* were assigned to Ron. NOTs was almost entirely writen by David Mayo. engram A trace of a past traumatic event, such as a car accident or falling off a stepladder. Reactive Mind Where engrams are stored; also known as the Bank (of engrams). Hubbard claimed that the Reactive Mind disrupts one's ability to think clearly (in the Analytical Mind), because everyday events can "restimulate" engrams in the Bank, thus leading to erroneous association of an immediate stimulus with reactions to a past trauma. Dianetics is the set of mind-numbing, repetitive drills that "clear" the engrams from the Reactive Mind. They culminate in the Clear Cognition ("I mock up my Reactive Mind"), at which -- poof -- the Bank vanishes in a puff of logic. This is true data. Ron said so. dearly Price of the Clear Cognition: upwards of $128,000. See . word-clearing Ron's Study Tech forbids derivation of meaning from context. Thus the legend at the front of all Scientology books: IMPORTANT NOTE The only reason a person gives up a study or becomes confused or unable to learn is because he or she has gone past a word or symbol that was not understood. Therefore in studying Scientology be very, very certain you never go past a word you do not fully understand. If the material becomes confusing or you can't seem to grasp it, there will be a word just earlier that you have not understood. Don't go any further, but go back to BEFORE you got into trouble, find the misunderstood word and get it defined. wog A non-Scientologist
