Ever think about cycling across a country?  Qatar would be the place to do it!

This day these cyclists went approximately 190 km, making a loop around the entire country.

New Bikes
Did you know that David and I are training for a mini/made up triathlon?  We (well at least David) has decided to do 27 miles on his 27th birthday in April.  We (well at least David...I am still undecided) will swim about .75 miles, bike 21.25 miles and run 5 miles.

It was beginning to get boring riding a stationary bike...so look what we brought back from China!  We got a steal of a deal on these bikes and we've been having lots of fun riding around until you read our next story...

Scene of the accident

Tuesday, February 8th was a night we'll not forget.  I was in bed and David had gone for a bike ride.  You may start off skeptical already...riding at night?  Well, our compound is full of energy all the time...walkers, bikers, kids, cars.  On this particular evening David was hit by a car in the compound.  We've been calling him Superman around here...flying over the hood of a car BUT next time he should remember his cape!

We took a trip to the emergency room and David was cleaned up and stitched up.  The left side of his face took the brunt of the fall but his right leg had some good size scrapes too.

So at this point we're thanking God that it wasn't worse and trying to figure out ways to get him a new pair of glasses and a new wedding ring (flew off while being hit).

Lanny's New Office
I've started my new job as the Orientation Administrator and I've been having fun figuring out what it is I do.  To sum it up I help orient people to the Islamic culture in Doha and the office culture of Carnegie Mellon.

The office is decorated with a theme that I call "all about Doha".  You'll see pictures of Doha on my cupboards and the Qatar flag on the wall...and no Doha themed office would be complete without a Camel Crossing/Yield to Camel sticker!

Steve Irwin:  In the morning, as the sand settles, it is possible to catch a glimpse of a herd of amigobots as they gather at an oasis.  This morning it appears that one of the group is injured.  It is resting upside-down after a run-in with the local predatory students.  Aren't they amazing!  Unbelievable.

The Ring is Found

2.5 hours passing out fliers paid off!

After a week and a half we had some neighbors in Riviera Compound call us and let us know that they had found the ring.  It was under their second car that they don't drive often.  The had moved the car to wash it and found the ring.  We were excited!

Sushi Night
We had Sushi Night at the Carlson's Apartment. We had seaweed wraps, rice, avocado, cucumber, egg, various sauces and chopsticks!  We then followed up the eats with some entertainment-a Japanese movie.
