This human has spent much of his life teaching and now seeing middle age
almost past has decided to take a sabatical (*cough* mid life crisis).
He is bearded, but without *enough* years for it to go very far and his
hair is definitely making its way from dark brown to silver (but not all
colour is gone).  A pouch at his side is carrying a silver coloured cat,
which is watching everything with much interest.  His movements are silent
except for the thud of his staff on the ground and he at first holds
himself as any life long school master, with the stern look observing his
latest class but quickly softens to a more neutral look as the Duke
enters.  The cloak he wears parted with each step to show a black tunic
hemmed with silver stripes and the crest of the arcane college.  (which
means: *if* there were any human wizards in the party, he may have been
one of their teachers.  The silver denotes his 25 years of teaching, but
without any other stripes has no additional seniority)  Diagonally
across the tunic is a strap which supports a sachel. As they sit, the
cat climbs into his lap and he draws paper and ink out of his sachel to
take notes.  I think his responses to the duke can be determined from the
above information....
