The party first defeated a battle group of three athach zombies, six ogre zombies, and one kobold cleric, sent by Sargon to capture the party for unspecified purposes. This was a CR8 encounter... And the party followed it up by re-defeating the same creatures the next day, this time only a CR7 encounter since they had already subdued the cleric. (Odd, isn't it, that this was harder than the first time around?) The party cleared a total of eight ghasts out of the Unhallowed bunker; this was another CR8 encounter, made simple through good use of choke points and area-effect attacks. The party easily defeated five undead dire bats while staying outside overnight - a CR6 encounter. Finally, the party survived a concerted attempt by four clerics of Vecna to do - well, to do _something_ unpleasant - involving dead chickens, negative energy channeling, and shouts of "Awaken, O Vecna!" Party receives credit for the two clerics slain (a sixth- and a seventh- level), and half credit for the other two that were driven off. Experience comes to 3150 each. Arator has gained a level; the rest of the party is about halfway to level seven. ------------ Loot gained: From the messenger: a set of magic horseshoes From the kobold cleric: a wand of inflict (used up) a ring of protection +2 a cloak of resistance +3 a +1 chain shirt a captured kobold cleric From the clerics of The Necromancer: a magic chain shirt a magic chain shirt two pearls of power two scrolls a scroll an amulet a wand ------------ I felt that this game was a little too focused on sequences of battles, and not enough on problem-solving. Hopefully the next adventure will be more connected. ------------ Oh, and FYI: Ivellios the rogue/bard says he wants to go to The Shining City and take the paladins up on their offer of Resurrection. With or without the party.
