You didn't see any treasure on him.  Ivellios (the bard) says he's heard
of a skeletal warrior with a big sword wandering up near Stalwart, a
fallen town north of the Shining City.  You don't get anything useful from
Knowledge:Undead.

that's Draconic for "In thy name, Vecna", so it seems unlikely.

You did run into a priest who claimed his name was "Vernon".
