Free One Day Workshop for Deaf and Hard of Hearing High School Students

Sponsored by AccessComputing, Women@SCS, and the School of Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon.

This one day workshop at Carnegie Mellon is based on the theme of making an online game (with deaf and hard of hearing players in mind). Students will learn the basics of making a game using Game Maker software, and through marketing strategies, the best way to market their "product". Towards the end of the workshop students will demonstrate their projects and discuss how computer science applications and new technologies can be created by, and benefit, the deaf/hard-of-hearing population (the deaf experts for such technologies).

The day will also include time for students to socialize and take a tour of the campus.

Keynote Speaker: Professor Karen Alkoby from Gallaudet University
