The card game

When I was young, before leaving for a long road trip across France, my sister and I would draw some cards with specific objects on them.
There was: a blue car, a truck, a dog, straw drying in a field, a church, "when going under a bridge", "when going over a bridge", double (find something twice), something starting by G, somebody witha hat, a boat or ski depending on the season, a train, red flowers, "whatever".
Then, in the car, my mom was dealing the cards, and the first one who found first all the objects won.

the alphabet

There was an other game where we had to find, one playing after the other, a word starting by A, then B ect. for some letter it was easy T --> Tree, but for K everybody was expecting a Kayak. There are few words starting by K in French.

Milestones, mailboxes and firehydrants...

In a short lapse of time you have to find different objects . I havn't see any milestone in the US as we have in France... I give the rule anyway and you can replace the stone by something else equivalent.

Explanations: To start, it is necessary that one of the players finds a boundary-mark. The first that sees some a says: " Milestone! ", then, he/she must find: a fire hydrants, a red car, a trash can and a mailbox. He/she must see them and must signal these objects before the other player find and signal a milestone. In this case it is at the second player to play, and to try to find the objects. To avoid to lose his/her turn, the player who looks for the objects can also signal a milestone, in this case he continues... A same player can align 3 sets of objects in a raw.
