La Garde-Adhémar is located in Provence in the south of France (Drôme). The closest main cities are Pierrelatte and the crocodile's farm: 3 miles, Avignon: 40 miles, Lyon: 60 miles
Since the village is on the top of a hill, you can noticed it from the highway down in the Rhone Valley.
During the Middle Age, it was a famous stronghold because the view you have from there. Guards could see miles away and noticed easily troups coming. The name of the village comes from the fact that the Adhémar family army was standing in the village as an outpost while the Adhémars were living in their castle in Montélimar.
During the Renaissance era, there was a magnificiant castle, but it was burned to ashes during the French Revolution at the end of the 18 century. Hopefully some parts remain, you should find them.
Nowadays, la Garde Adhémar is a provencal village. It presents typical squares, little streets, old gates, a wonderfull view over the Rhône valley, a nice roman church, and a lot of surprises.
