This photo shows two changes I made to the lower half of this
skimmer. First, I cut out the 45-degree baffle that was supposed
to reduce bubble output, but in fact increased bubble output. I cut
out the baffle with a Dremel tool that had a little circular saw blade mounted. You
can see the remains of the baffle. The remains form angled nubs
roughly tangent to the output PVC pipe.
The second change I made was to cut out that portion of the injection
tube that was inside the skimmer box. I got a pretty clean removal
at the top of the box, but there remains a little nub of what was
once there on the bottom of the box.
