15-891 Technically Speaking

Description:
This seminar is for graduate students who want improve their technical
speaking skills. Students will repeat presentation assignments several
times, receiving focused feedback after each iteration.The emphasis will be
on the basic skills used in any technical talk, from classroom lectures to
job interviews.
Sample assignments:
Pretend you are a faculty member and give a 15 minute
talk about your research that is designed to recruit graduate students to
come work with you; give a 20 minute introductory talk on game tree search
(undergraduate level); pick any talk of a kind you would like to learn how
to deliver exceptionally well, and give it.
Method of Evaluation: Grading will be Pass/Fail. Evaluation will be based on class participation.
