Some things about me...

Work and Education

I work for the National Robotics Engineering Consortium, a part of the Robotics Insitiute which is a department of the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. You might also check out my official RI Employee Web Page. CMU users can see the insider version.

I received my Masters Degree in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University in August of 2000. My research interests are in the areas of Mobile Robotics, Planning, Scheduling, Range Data Navigation and Vizualization, Design and Representation. I also graduated from CMU's undergraduate program in May of 1998 with a Bachelors in Computer Science and a Minor in Drama.

I am also an alumnus (class of '94) of The Hotchkiss School, in Lakeville, CT, and Talcott Mountain Academy in Avon, CT.

Interests and Associations

I'm a brother in Alpha Phi Omega, a coed national service fraternity, and served as Service Vice President, and Sergeant at Arms during my time as an undergrad with Kappa Chapter, for whom I am now an Advisor. In 2003 I also got the opportunity to design their new concessions booth.

The KGB is a CMU campus organization dedicated to world domination and safe, recreational use of thermonuclear weapons. While I'm no longer an active member, I frequently reminisce about the two Spring Carnival Booths for which I was Booth Chair.

The family business (which I'll not be carrying on) is Specialty Saw Inc. It's a great place for any precision industrial tooling you may need to be doing but doesn't have enough robotics to interest me. :)

As far as sports go, I enjoy SCUBA Diving (PADI:Advanced Open Water), Golf, Rock Climbing, and Skiing (Advanced Intermediate). I also used to Wrestle (no not the fake nonsense on TV), and play Intramural Soccer.

When I get the chance, I like to work in the theatre, doing set design and construction, lighting and run crew.

And though I haven't had the chance to do it in a long time, I have been an Emergency Medical Technician, and member of the Simsbury and Salisbury (CT) volunteer ambulance associations.

The rest of my free time tends to be divided between Candlemaking, Computer Games, good Sci-Fi shows (B5, Crusade, Farscape), and Reading.

People

The light of my life is my wife, Megan, whose ancient website can be found here.

My family includes my brother Jeff, sister Joanna, and my Mom, and Dad.

You can probably find a lot more people in my various pictures.
