We'd been looking for a good headboard to use with our bed for some time. Growing up with one that had a shelf on it (which was mightily convenient for books, alarms clocks and such) I was holding out hope that we might be able to find a similar one. So, very sneakily, as a surprise birthday/anniversary/wedding/Christmas present Megan commissioned Garth of Jones Furniture Designs to make this:
Once I overcame the shock of seeing the amazing headboard materialize in our bedroom, I realized that the only proper response would be to commission Garth (and his apprentice, Barbara) to make the rest of the bed as a gift in return to Megan. :)
