Yours truly, standing on the Santa Cruz beach. |
Sam and I, Santa Cruz beach. |
People on the beach. |
That's a humongous pier! |
Life-saver watching... |

"Play it safe"! |
Unknown building near the Santa Cruz beach. |
The amusement park near the beach (this looks like peeking
into a stage!). |
The amusement park at the Santa Cruz beach. |
Yeah I'm scared. |
I'm too old for this stuff. |
Let alone this one... |
Where they shoot you high in the air, thus creating a little "zero-G" experience. |
Cable car - yes that's right on for my age! |
Scared kids in the midair. |
The Santa Cruz beach, from the cable car. |
This height can be more intimidating than you think. |
Cable car fun. |
Shot from the cable car. |
I've seen her somewhere else... |
Ready guys? |
Roxie and Sam. |
Then we went to Berkeley - yes, the UC Berkeley. I can't believe
an entire academic department can be in this lovely little
house. |
Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley. |
Berkeley bears! |
Haas School of Business. |
Here I am - Haas School of Business. |
Another shot. |
The Berkeley landmark: the famous bell tower, or the Sather
Campanile, or the Sather Tower. It was designed by John Galen
Howard and completed in 1914. |
The entire campus was amazingly quiet and empty. |
The bell tower of Berkeley. |
The bell tower of Berkeley. |
The bell tower of Berkeley. |
The bell tower of Berkeley (enough already!). |
Anyone knows the connection between the tower and Lincoln? |
The architect: John Galen Howard. |
It is 307 feet tall, and there is an observation deck on the
200-foot level. |
Does this say quite a lot about college life? |
Unknown building on the Berkeley campus. |
UC Berkeley. |
Berkeley bears again! |
Davis Hall - compared to Stanford, there are a lot of interesting
buildings here. |
Forgot the name of the structure. |
Me on the Berkeley campus. |
Back alley. |
Here we are: the Computer Science dept of UC Berkeley, housed
in Soda Hall. This was Sam. |
Soda Hall. |
"The Greek Theatre". |
Half of the campus is built on a hill, and there seems to be
plenty of nooks and crannies waiting to be explored. Overall
I like the campus (better than Stanford, sorry). |
