C.W. Smith	His third novel, The Vestal Virgin Room (Atheneum, 1983), focused on a pair of married itinerant musicians, Mid-Westerners, whose efforts to secure fame in Las Vegas results in a strain in a marriage already under stress due to the loss of their only child.
Louise Bryant	In a 1920 letter to a friend, Bryant spoke of her typhus-stricken husband's death in Moscow and how she watched Soviet citizens pass his grave : :'' I have been there in the busy afternoon when all Russia hurries by,'' she wrote.''
Andrew Irvine (mountaineer)	Wang's 1975 sighting was the key to the discovery of Mallory's body 24 years later in the same general area, although his reported description of the body he found,'' hole in cheek'', is not consistent with the condition and posture of Mallory's body, which was face down, his head almost completely buried in scree, and with a golfball-sized puncture wound on his forehead, leaving open the possibility that Wang may have sighted Irvine instead.
Isabella Beeton	A documentary for the BBC by Sophie Dahl transmitted on BBC2 on 29 September 2011 suggested that it was highly unlikely that Mrs. Beeton would have died of syphilis at the early age of 28, although it was probable that both her husband and she contracted the disease and that she had passed it on to their first two children who died in infancy.

Lee Harvey Oswald	In October 1981, with Marina's support, Oswald's grave was opened to test a theory propounded by writer Michael Eddowes : that during Oswald's stay in the Soviet Union he was replaced with a Soviet double ; that it was this double, not Oswald, who killed Kennedy and who is buried in Oswald's grave ; and that the exhumed remains would therefore not exhibit a surgical scar Oswald was known to carry.

Jazmin Grace Grimaldi	Prince Albert II publicly confirmed Jazmin's paternity on 1 June 2006, noting that he had wanted to protect her identity until she was an adult.
Elizabeth Keckley	The writer Joanne Fleischner has suggested that Mrs. Lincoln's son Robert, who was perpetually embarrassed by his mother's behavior in private life (and would have her committed to an asylum in 1875), did not want the public to know such intimate details as appeared in the memoir.

Robert M. Pirsig	Pirsig discusses this incident in an afterword to subsequent editions of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, writing that he and his second wife, Kimball, decided not to abort the child she conceived in 1980, because he had come to believe that this unborn child was a continuation of the life pattern that Chris had occupied.

Ferris Foreman	Shortly afterward, Foreman's daughter Ann was discovered to have been in communication with the infamous secessionist and duelist Daniel Showalter who wrote her an affectionate letter that was found on the body of a Confederate spy in west Texas in September 1863.
Edward Oxford	It includes an article from The Age, a Melbourne newspaper, which reports that on 4 May 1880, a'' John'' Oxford, identified as the man who shot at the Queen many years ago, and who had subsequently been a patient in an asylum before he was discharged to Australia, had recently been convicted of stealing a shirt and spent a week in jail.
Marie Bashkirtseff	She learns later -- in Book 83, December 29, 1878 -- from her father (but does not apparently accept his statement, as she ignores it here in her preface) that she was a full-term baby, suggesting that she was conceived before her parents had married and that all the mystification about her date of birth was intended to cover up that embarrassment. -RSB-
Nicholas II of Russia	In July 2007, 46-year-old builder Sergei Pogorelov (part of a team from an amateur history group who spent free summer weekends looking for the lost Romanovs) said that after stumbling on a small burned area of ground covered with nettles near Yekaterinburg he had discovered bones that belonged to'' a boy and a young woman roughly the ages of Nicholas' 13-year-old hemophiliac son, Alexei, and a daughter whose remains also have never been found.''

James "Honest Dick" Tate	Another witness claimed to have seen a letter to one of Tate's friends written in 1890 and postmarked from Brazil.
Steven M. Cohen	Based on a 2010 study he produced for the Foundation for Jewish Camp, he challenged the idea that a lack of welcome is what is deterring interfaith households from participating in Jewish life :'' There is no longer a stigma attached to walking into a synagogue with a non-Jewish spouse, but what remains a problem is that that husband or wife then does not have access to what is going on once he or she is there.''
Catherine Doherty	In 1943, having received an annulment of her first marriage, as she had married her cousin, which is forbidden in the Roman Catholic Church, she married Eddie Doherty, one of America's foremost reporters, who had fallen in love with her while writing a story about her apostolate.
Albert DeSalvo	The victim's nephew, Casey Sherman, also wrote a book, A Rose for Mary (2003), in which he expanded upon the evidence -- and leads from Kelly's book -- to conclude that DeSalvo could not be responsible for her death, and to try to determine her killer's identity.
N. D. Cocea	In a 2005 interview, Galaction's daughter Elena also stated that her father had only remained in contact with Cocea because of Cocea's kinship with Zoe Marcou-Galaction ; the family, she claimed, mistrusted and feared Cocea, whom Zoe herself likened to the devil, but whose conversation skills they all found irresistibly entertaining.
Trixie Friganza	On August 20, 1909, tabloids reported that Trixie was to be engaged to Nat M. Wills, but nothing more was said of this and she did not in fact marry the man.
Martin Sixsmith	In 2009 he wrote The Lost Child of Philomena Lee, about the forcible separation of a mother and child by the nuns of an Irish convent during the 1950s, and the subsequent attempts of the mother and child to contact one another.
Wild Bill Hickok	Jane herself confirmed this account in an 1896 newspaper interview, although she claimed she had been hospitalized with illness rather than in the guardhouse.
Mona von Bismarck	It was only after his death in a sports car accident in 1979 (later referenced by socialites as'' Martini on the rocks'') that Mona realized that de Martini, like Bismarck, had married her for her money (exactly the same way she had, with Schlesinger, Bush and Williams, so many years before), only de Martini turned out to be already married and had been secretly bilking Mona of funds for his children.
Trinley Thaye Dorje	See Karmapa controversy) In 1988 Shamar Rinpoche went on a secret visit to Lhasa to investigate whether Thaye Dorje was the reincarnation of the Karmapa, because, he said, the boy appeared to him in a dream.

Isabel, Princess Imperial of Brazil	After learning of the death of his son Pedro in 1850, he wrote :'' This has been the most fatal blow that I could receive, and certainly I would not have survived were it not that I still have a wife and two children whom I must educate so that they can assure the happiness of the country in which they were born.''
Alexei Nikolaevich, Tsarevich of Russia	He was murdered alongside his parents, four sisters, and three retainers during the Russian Civil War by order of the Bolshevik government, though rumors that he had survived persisted until the 2007 discovery of his and one of his sister's remains.
Lana Turner	4 million in 2011 USD -RSB-) with the majority of her estate left to Carmen Lopez Cruz, her maid and companion for 45 years and the caregiver for her final illness.

Roddy Doyle	The Woman Who Walked into Doors, published in 1996, is the story of a battered wife, narrated by the victim Paula Spencer ; despite her husband's increasingly violent behaviour, she defends him, using the classic excuse'' I walked into a door'' to explain her bruises.
John and Lorena Bobbitt	Although Lorena told Oprah Winfrey in April 2009 that she had no interest in talking to John, On the show John apologized to Lorena for the way he treated her during their marriage, and Lorena claimed that John still loved her because he continued to send her Valentine's Day cards and flowers.
Sid Krofft	In a Los Angeles Times article in 2008, Sid and his brother Marty admitted the deception, mentioning that even young family members possessed incorrect information, believing some of the fiction as fact.
Ruth Paine	The book contained an undated note left by Lee for Marina on April 10, 1963 (the day of the Walker assassination attempt) which Marina would later testify she had concealed.
