Several of you have asked me this question recently, so I hope you won't mind
the mass-mailing reply... 

If you take any course during the summer other than Reading and Research
then you must pay the cost of the course from your own pocket.  The normal
rate is $285 per unit (most grad courses are 12 units), but I believe there
is a slight discount on summer courses.  If you're considering taking a
summer course let me know and I'll locate the summer rate for you.
