Abstract:
Instead of giving a regular research talk, I thought it would be interesting to have a group discussion on doing research---not on a particular technical topic, but simply on research in general. What makes a good research topic? How do I go about finding one? Where should I publish my results? How do I write a good thesis proposal? ... and any other questions you may be losing sleep over.
