Several of you have pointed out a seeming inconsistency in the AIPS'98 Call for Papers. Actually, the instructions are not really inconsistent, just badly worded.

The instructions request submissions in 12 point font, whose length is equivalent to 8 pages in AAAI style format (~6000 words). However, the AAAI style format uses 10 point font. The intent of specifying the page limit in AAAI style format was that that will be our page limit in the proceedings. However, we'd prefer submissions in single-column 12 point font, as that is better for the eyes of the reviewers. Given the confusion, we'll accept submissions in either 12 point or AAAI style, but the preference is for the former.

To make matters better/worse, it has been pointed out to me that 8 pages in AAAI, 10pt style works out to 15 pages in Latex "fullpage,12pt" style, and 20 pages in "12pt" style.

Sorry for the confusion,

Reid
