My original home page at NC State was created back in the early, heady days of learning about UNIX and shell scripts and HTML and such. It was automatically generated from my Netscape bookmarks, and I actually set up a way for other people to use the same cheap technique to have a "home page" without any investment of time or effort. This page describes this in more detail (unfortunately, it's no longer available, as NC State finally decided to cut off access to dead accounts). Because I browsed quite a bit and added lots of bookmarks and some fairly insipid commentary, I was, once-upon-a-time, linked to by various people. You can still, as of my writing this, find archaeological remnants of this with judicious googling.
