Cc: steveg@iplmail.orl.mmc.com As per the FAQ I came up with a set of FormatCommand: and PrintCommand: statements for my global.prf file so that print works fine: *.FormatCommand: cat /tmp/%s.n | gpic|gtbl|geqn|gtroff -Tps | *.PrintCommand: grops | lpr Note that this is almost identical to the last example listed in Q9 of the FAQ, the only variance being that I use -Tps instead of -Tpsc. I also tried *.FormatCommand: groff -pte -E -Z /tmp/%s.n | though I believe that the -Z option on groff will make it behave the same as the |gpic|gtbl|geqn|gtroff anyhow. No matter what I try when I run ez and pull down to preview on the menu it claims that the preview window should appear soon but it never does show up ;-( Possibly related to this problem is that my /usr/andrew/bin does not contain either ezprint or preview, and if I run help these commands are listed but selecting them brings up an error message saying that no help is available for that subject. I opted not to build either AMS or AFS if that makes a difference, all I really need for my application is ATK. I tried building both with and without the #define ANDREW_PRINTING_ENV 1 in my allsys.h file, same results both times. Any ideas? Watch for articles in the Linux Journal coming over the next few months. Excerpts from mail: 17-Jul-94 Information needed Rajesh Raj@leonard.anu.e (450) > Are there other programs (FTP, news readers, etc.) with Andrew interface? No FTP interface. Actually nes can be read with messages, but requires a huge investment which might make sense for a university like CMU, but not for smaller units. It probably requires things which are not distributed either. The question is a little tricky. Doing "ls /usr/andrew/bin" will show you some binaries which will lead you to other programs like bush, fad, chart, pipescript, typescript, and raster to name a few that come to mind. But that's not all that you can do. Most of the functionality of AUIS lies in the dynamic objects (found in /usr/andrew/dlib/atk). However, looking at these names isn't always very informative. Check the menu cards. For instance the Media card leads you to the image dynamic object. Probably you best bet is to start with help (auishelp) and start looking around. Good luck. =================================================================== Software Toolsmiths Terry Gliedt (507) 356-4710 tpg@mr.net \enddata{text822, 39349} \begindata{text822, 42302} Return-path: X-Andrew-Authenticated-as: 0;andrew.cmu.edu;Network-Mail Received: from andrew.cmu.edu via trymail for info-andrew+@andrew.cmu.edu (->+dist+/afs/andrew.cmu.edu/usr0/ak99/dists/info-andrew-nostrip.dl) ID ; Tue, 19 Jul 1994 10:15:40 -0400 (EDT) Received: from po3.andrew.cmu.edu via qmail ID ; Tue, 19 Jul 1994 10:15:07 -0400 (EDT) Received: from campino.informatik.rwth-aachen.de (campino.Informatik.RWTH-Aachen.DE [137.226.225.2]) by po3.andrew.cmu.edu (8.6.7/8.6.6) with SMTP id KAA07509 for ; Tue, 19 Jul 1994 10:15:01 -0400 Received: from urmel.informatik.rwth-aachen.de by campino.informatik.rwth-aachen.de (4.1/campino-5) id AA27739; Tue, 19 Jul 94 16:13:42 +0200 Received: from picasso (picasso.Informatik.RWTH-Aachen.DE) by urmel.informatik.rwth-aachen.de (4.1/urmel-16) id AA02931; Tue, 19 Jul 94 16:13:29 +0200 Received: from degas.INFO5 by picasso (4.1/I5.4) id AA25252; Tue, 19 Jul 94 16:16:51 +0200 Received: from Messages.8.5.N.CUILIB.3.45.SNAP.NOT.LINKED.degas.INFO5.sun4.41 via MS.5.6.degas.INFO5.sun4_41; Tue, 19 Jul 1994 16:16:50 +0200 (MET DST) Message-Id: Date: Tue, 19 Jul 1994 16:16:50 +0200 (MET DST) From: Peter Haumer X-Andrew-Message-Size: 785+0 Content-Type: X-BE2; 12 If-Type-Unsupported: send To: Rajesh Raj , Terry Gliedt Subject: Re: Information needed Cc: info-andrew@andrew.cmu.edu In-Reply-To: References: \begindata{text,1614488} \textdsversion{12} \template{messages} \excerptedcaption{Excerpts from mail: 19-Jul-94 Re: Information needed Terry Gliedt@mr.net (1583)} \quotation{No FTP interface. Someone from CMU will need to answer you with more detail on this. I will agree that is quite complex. What exists that I know of is in /usr/andrew/doc/ams. These files (and alot more on other things) are in the AUIS63L0-doc package for Linux. With Lookz style editor inside ez i can customize the look of my text ( for example i can do that all the C keywords will be red and italic instead black and bold ) The question is : how can i save this changes so they will affect all the C source code that i'm writing with ez. i.e. i want that this changes will take effect immediatly after starting ez. Seems like changing /usr/andrew/lib/tpls/c.tpl has no effect on this styles. Thank you in advance. Each time a C program is loaded, the style defeinitions are either: \description{ 1. fetched in from \italic{c.tpl} (assuming you have "template=c" on your \typewriter{addfiletype} line), OR 2. created by the ctext dataobject (if you DIDN'T tell it to load a template).
