We will be investigating and fixing VIBS for the next week to week and a half for inclusion in the first patch for AUIS 6.3. Work on this patch is scheduled to end August 15. Only the most serious and widely encountered bugs in AUIS 6.3 will be pursued by the consortium staff. At this time we must devote nearly all of our resources to development of the C++ version of AUIS 7.x. The current plan calls for the production of one official patch to AUIS 6.3, and periodic review and collection of contributed patches. Current contributed patches include: NetBSD-current Solaris on Intel Bugs in AUIS 6.3 which have already been addressed include: The unknown inset safety net included in AUIS 6.3 had a sometimes fatal bug. Tab deletion could coredump. Build problems with LEXLIB on HP-UX -fwritable-strings or -traditional is needed when using gcc on some platforms. (Notably Linux, HP, and Sun.) Ez does show styles, line spacing, etc. on screen. The document is displayed according to the space available in the window, not on paper. All text printing goes through troff, which handles the computations for formatting the document to the size of the paper. To format the text for A4 paper you'll need to check the man page for your version of troff and modify the FormatCommand preference appropriately. Specifically, it appears pages are formatted for US 8" x 11" pages sizes whereas we use A4 size pages here in Australia. I've looked through the entire printing chain (printer, ghostscript, groff, ez) but I'm not sure where the exact formatting is occurring. I've changed the groff page length in /usr/lib/groff/font/devps/DESC to 841890 to reflect A4 page sizes. However ez documents still seem to be coming up short. Is the US paper sizes coded into the andrew source code anywhere? Can I change this to reflect A4 paper sizes? Or does the problem not lie with ez but rather with groff/ghostscript? AUIS knows nothing about paper size as far as I know. groff and ghostscript should be handling all the actual layout, so they are the ones which needs to know the paper size. As I recall there is a compile time #define which selects the default paper size for ghostscript. -Rob Ryan Andrew Consortium \enddata{text822, 22690} \begindata{text822, 24770} Return-path: X-Andrew-Authenticated-as: 0;andrew.cmu.edu;Network-Mail Received: from po3.andrew.cmu.edu via trymail for info-andrew+@andrew.cmu.edu (->+dist+/afs/andrew.cmu.edu/usr0/ak99/dists/info-andrew-nostrip.dl) ID ; Mon, 29 Aug 1994 14:48:31 -0400 (EDT) Received: from po5.andrew.cmu.edu via qmail ID ; Mon, 29 Aug 1994 14:44:53 -0400 (EDT) Received: from CASPER.NA.CS.YALE.EDU (NA-GW.CS.YALE.EDU [128.36.0.21]) by po5.andrew.cmu.edu (8.6.7/8.6.6) with SMTP id OAA22223 for ; Mon, 29 Aug 1994 14:44:39 -0400 Received: from DALTON.SYSTEMSY.CS.YALE.EDU (CURIE.SYSTEMSY.CS.YALE.EDU) by CASPER.NA.CS.YALE.EDU via SMTP; Mon, 29 Aug 1994 14:44:42 -0400 Received: by DALTON.SYSTEMSY.CS.YALE.EDU (Sendmail-5.65c/res.client.cf-3.7) id AA15076; Mon, 29 Aug 1994 14:46:52 -0400 Date: Mon, 29 Aug 1994 14:46:52 -0400 From: freeman-eric@CS.YALE.EDU (Eric Freeman) Message-Id: <199408291846.AA15076@DALTON.SYSTEMSY.CS.YALE.EDU> To: info-andrew+@andrew.cmu.edu Subject: Couple of questions I'm fairly new to using the ATK and I thought I would post a couple of questions. The ATK has given us the ability to quickly get a prototype multimedia system up and running here at Yale, however I've found the support for creating complex dialog boxes troublesome. I'm wondering if anyone has developed a package for creating complex dialog boxes or perhaps someone has been successful in combining Motif and the ATK? I'd also like to know if anyone has developed an inset that supports MPEG (or something similar). Thanks, Eric Freeman freeman-eric@cs.yale.edu \enddata{text822, 24770}
