Each group must show significant progress on their mini-project by April 11th by submitting a 2 page paper (a handin directory will be created and announced soon). In your paper, you should describe a plan for how you will address the problem, including what techniques for extracting meaningful keywords from the query (to do the document search -- if you are option 1), what methods to extract the answers from the retrieved text (e.g. Finite-state transducers, or full ATNs, or any other method(s) that you intend to try and why -- for both options 1 and 2), and your overall system diagrams (modules and data paths between them).
