About the Authors

Aaron Greenhouse

Aaron started Montgomery Blair High School in the fall of 1988 as a goofy looking, hard rock loving, horny freshman. He became involved with the Poem of the Day while in tenth grade (around early 1990), and during that year wrote his first poem about snot. Not being very skillful at writing poems, Aaron was made treasurer and scribe of the Poem of the Day in May of 1991. While recording the poems, he started compiling this book, and wrote the first Xmos biography, Who is Rev. Xmos Anyway? for English class. It received a B. Aaron also wrote Aliens? and a few other Poems of the Day. He tells us he is influenced by "Weird Al" Yankovic, and by the funny little creature that lives in the Ode to the Commode statue (please read Aliens?). As his senior year draws to a close, and he prepares to depart to Brandeis University in the fall, he is an extremely handsome, thrash metal loving freshman who is even hornier than before.

Jeff Hostetler

Jeff was born in 1974 in Cheverly, Maryland. He moved to Derwood in 1980. He has attended Candlewood Elementary School, Lakewood Elementary School, Redland Middle School, Takoma Park Intermediate School, and, of course, Montgomery Blair High School. His interests include hiking, camping, canoeing, scuba diving, computer programming, playing computer games, and writing. His writings include A Very Stupid Christmas (published in Assorted Dementia), The Penguin, the Cat, and the Water Buffalo (to be published in the 1991-92 Silver Quill), and Eddie Pus Tex (which got him into college). He has been writing Poems of the Day since his sophomore year. He credits A. A. Milne, Dr. Suess, Lewis Caroll, and Shel Silverstien as his poetic influences, and he thinks that e. e. cummings is "a wuss." He is going to Oberlin College next year and is currently developing a senior slump. He welcomes fan mail, and especially welcomes fan female.

Philip Moyer

Philip is a newcomer to the pen of Xmos, although he has served from many years as a rhyme-supplier and postfix-producer. He has known the Creators of Xmos for many years, and would like to say "Thanks." He likes "Weird Al," Star Trek, PDQ Bach, and anything that turns his fancy. He is a true embodiment of the saying "Nice guys don't always finish last, and they always get more friends and hugs than bad guys."

Sanjaya Rajapatirana

Sanjaya was born on a small island in the Indian Ocean sometime between the beginning of time and the end of time. Some historians believe that he was born several times, and that he can be traced to Sanjeus Rajuspathus, the uncredited inventor of the handstand and founder of the original "Hair Club for Men: Roman Edition."

Little is known of Mr. Rajapatirana's schooling, though the Educational Testing Service claims that he once took the S.A.T. for a high school student with the same name and address, but he was never formally charged. Some believe that it was in high school that he was enlightened to the teachings of Xmos, but others argue that he first found Xmos while working as a Chippendale in Madison Square Garden. They contend that one day when only he was watching, the giant Sony TV began displaying the compiled works of Xmos, and he saw the light. Further research shows an anomalous giant turtle count in the adjacent SUNY-main campus at the same time as the messages were believed to have been shown.

Though Mr. Rajapatirana has not contributed much to the quantity of the poems in the archives of Xmos, the quality of his entries is okay. He is remembered for having a rather sick sense of humor, and reveling in dismembered happy faces.

Mr. Rajapatirana is currently residing as the dictator for life of a small island in the Indian Ocean. He enjoys working with his and other peoples money. His hobbies include staging coups in neighboring countries, bungee swimming, and galactic conquest.

Kevin Yeh

Kevin is one of the original embodiments of the spirit of Rev. Xmos. In possibly one of the greatest coincidences in recorded history, he also happens to be one of the founders of Martinism, the Church of the Great Bus Driver, Mr. "I'm just doin my job" Martin. It is rumored that the institutions of both Xmos and Martin were conceived after a wild night of video cassette rewinding, but that is all a bunch of sour cream yak dip. (It is actually all part of a greater plan. He is really an agent from the future sent to protect Arnold Schwarzenegger). He lives in Derwood, Maryland with his family. He has a brilliant brother named Jeff who has been unsuccessfully trying to convey instructions (through permutations of restaurant names) for travelling via lunch box to the 5th dimension.

Kevin's favorite pastimes include reading science fiction, writing poems and other assorted gawnk, computing, basketball, building Physics Team floats, and avoiding death on a daily basis. He also enjoys sleeping and eating, but is trying not to get too dependent on these since he is a Magnet. He listens to "Weird Al" Yankovic, Billy Joel, and other voices in his head. He oughta know by now that the exertion of an extreme amount of effort may increase the risk of cardiac arrest-est-est-est-est-est. But he's going pre-med at Brown anyway.
