Yahoo! donates 257 servers for parallel computing research

October 3, 2012 —Yahoo! Inc. delivered 257 servers to Carnegie Mellon University's Pittsburgh campus on Tuesday. The donated computers, with Intel-based processors, will be used by researchers in several different CMU departments and centers to investigate problems in security, privacy, and parallel processing of massive amounts of data. Also donated by Yahoo! were 10 Cisco switches.
