If participants have already been involved in research we encourage you to present a poster and/or give a short talk. This is great experience for first timers!
 
The workshop will feature selected 10 minute talks in which students describe the results from a research project, such as a class final project, undergraduate independent work, or summer work experience. Prospective students presenters (talks and posters) are required to submit a one page extended abstract for review.

You may request a mentor to help you with your submission. This may be especially useful if English is not your first language, and/or if you are a first-time presenter. Mentors will answer your questions by email.

To request a mentor, you must first register for the workshop, then send email

All participants must register for the workshop prior to submitting.

• Jan. 14th, 2011: Abstract Submission deadline
• Jan. 28th, 2011: Reviewer decisions and feedback
• Feb 4th, 2011: Workshop Registration deadline
• Feb. 11th, 2011: Deadline for finalized posters and talks

Step 1. Prepare a one page extended abstract describing the problem, approach, and results for either your talk and/or your poster. If you need help see Mentors available above.

Step 2. Format your extended abstract using either our Latex or Word template.

Step 3. Convert your document (Latex or Word) to pdf.

Step 4. Submit your extended abstract by email in pdf format by Jan 14th, 2011.
Be sure to indicate whether you're interested in presenting a poster, a talk, or both.

Extended abstracts will be reviewed by a committee of researchers based on the following criteria (reviewer decisions and feedback by Jan. 28th, 2011):

• quality of research
• presentation clarity
• interest to the general audience

All authors of accepted abstracts will be invited to present a poster.
Selected authors will be invited to give a 10 minute talk.
