Call for Talks and Posters
We encourage all participants to present a poster and/or give a talk (see below) about their research.

The conference will feature 10 minute talks in which students describe the results from a research project, such as a class final project, undergraduate independent work, or summer work experience. Students may present a talk and/or poster.

*All participants must register for the conference prior to submitting.*
Mentors Available

You may request a mentor to help you with your submission. This may be especially useful if English is not your first language, and/or if you are a first-time presenter. Mentors will answer your questions by email.

To request a mentor, you must first register for the conference.

Submissions

Step 1. Prepare a one page extended abstract describing the problem, approach, and results for either your talk and/or your poster. If you need help see Mentors available above.

Step 2. Format your extended abstract using either our Latex or Word template.

Step 3. If you use the Word template convert your document to pdf.

Step 4. Submit your extended abstract by May 4.

Late-Breaking Results

To accommodate students who expect to do an REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) or similar program over the summer, we have a special late-breaking results track. Tell us if you plan to submit a late breaking proposal by emailing <ourcs2007-submissions@andrew.cmu.edu>. Your extended abstract must be submitted using steps 1 thru 4 above by Sept. 1, 2007.

Review Process
Extended abstracts will be reviewed by a committee of researchers based on the following criteria (reviewer decisions and feedback by June 1, 2007):
  • quality of research
  • presentation clarity
  • interest to the general audience
Participation
The organizers invite all undergraduate women computer scientists to attend and participate whether or not they apply to present their work. All students will find it useful to observe their peers' presentations and to participate in the ensuing discussions.
