Best Paper Awards

Two students advised by Carlos Guestrin, associate professor of machine learning and computer science, recently received awards at two top research conferences. Anton Chechetka, a Ph.D. student in the Robotics Institute, received the Best Student Paper Award at the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Statistics 2010 for his paper, "Focused Belief Propagation for Query-Specific Inference." Dafna Shahaf, a Ph.D. student in computer science, received the Best Paper Award at the ACM SIGKDD Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining for her paper, "Connecting the Dots Between News Articles."
