Kibbutz Lotan's Center for Creative Ecology (CfCE) in Southern Israel is a demonstration and training center in sustainable engineering and technologies. In addition to being a pioneer in 'hands-on' environmental education, it is unique in its scope of research and application of construction methods using natural materials, organic agriculture in hyper-arid climates, sewage treatment in constructed wetlands, no water public sanitation systems, and desert development/conservation for local and migratory birds. Participants in the CfCE college and graduate training programs are college students, graduates and professionals interested in integration of sustainable/environmentally sound technologies and policies into their business and as training for professions in international development. The CfCE is currently providing the Israel Ministries of Agriculture and Foreign Affairs with organic agriculture and business training to Tibetan refugees living in India during a work-study program in Israel.
