Smith will give a brief overview of the current state of university-wide support for computing at Carnegie Mellon. He will also discuss initiatives in technology-enhanced learned that have developed over the last few years. Some of his topics will include "Andrew-for-Life," middleware challenges at Carnegie Mellon, Blackboard as a course management system (strengths and weaknesses), the university's "portal" project, what's next for wireless, and Carnegie Mellon's "Open Learning Initiative."
