Jonathan Betz, B.S.'99
       


scott Jonathan Betz, Software Engineer, Google

Jonathan Betz is currently a Software Engineer with Google, the Internet's leading search engine. Prior to joining Google, Jonathan was the Engineering Manager for Analytic Query Services at E.piphany, where he directed development of the analytic core for the industry-leading E.6 marketing automation product. Companies like Expedia, Mutual of Omaha, and H&R Block used products and technologies he developed to produce actionable business insights from terabyte-scale enterprise data stores.

Mr. Betz attended Carnegie Mellon from 1995 through 1999, where his studies concentrated in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cognitive science. He performed undergraduate research projects with the ACT-R Research Group, the Center for Automated Learning and Discovery, and the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center. While a student, he was a founding father of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, which he served as Vice President for Member Development. He was also a Student Senator, an Orientation Counselor, a member of the SCS Student Advisory Council, and the first student representative to the Dean's Curriculum Committee.

Mr. Betz currently lives in Summit, New Jersey, with his wife Lisa and children Charlotte and and Jeremy.
