Those Who Hunt the Night

by Barbara Hambly

Review by John Clarke

Just before WWI, someone is killing the vampires of London during daylight hours, and they coerce Professor James Asher, ex-spy, into tracking the killer. A combination historical fantasy, vampire story, and detective yarn. Hambly develops convincing, interesting characters, and she captures the feel of turn-of-the-century London extremely well, a trademark of her best books. Read this one at night, with a dictionary at hand. Might make a good movie someday.
