Greetings from the Kretschmann Farm, My wife, Becky and I (and now our three daughters) have been providing Pittsburgh area customers with organically grown produce, fruits and meats since 1971. Our 40 acre farm is located near Zelienople, about 35 minutes north of Pittsburgh. The variety of products raised is probably wider than that provided by any other western PA certified organic grower and ranges >from vegetables in season to strawberries, apple cider, fresh herbs and beef. Most of our produce has been marketed through retail stores and directly to consumers at farmers' markets. Unfortunately, there are many people who, because of time constraints or location, are unable to regularly obtain our beautiful CHEMICAL-FREE, CERTIFIED ORGANIC produce. Our season will begin the week of June 1 and continue until the week of Nov. 14-18. Probable delivery days will be Wednesdays or Fridays. We are asking for a $50 deposit at signup time. Payment for the first half of the season will be due by June 1 and the second half of the season by August 17th. All amounts are refundable if you are not satisfied. If this method of payment is impossible for you, please let me know and we can make other arrangements. Dropoff points will be arranged after tallying and grouping the responses. Hosting a dropoff involves having a suitable place large enough for 15 to 20 boxes and is typically a shaded porch or garage. Subscribers have about 4 hours after delivery to pick up and are asked not to ring the hosts' doorbells and to call the host only in an emergency. This minimizes the impact on the host. Hosts are given a 1/2 price discount on their share. Let us know when you call if you are willing to be a host. Light Share: for singles or couples who are light eaters. $12 per week: $100 due June 1, $150 due Aug. 17 Standard Share: produce sufficient for a household of two adults with one or two children. $15 per week: $135 due June 1, $190 due Aug. 17 Plus Share: for families with growing eaters or those with a preference for more fruits and vegetables. $18 per week: $175 due June 1, $225 due Aug. 17 Typically, what would be included in a subscriber's basket early in the season would be spinach, lettuce, strawberries, onions, beets, fresh herbs and kale. A mid-season selection would be peppers, tomatoes, new potatoes, broccoli, sweet corn, lettuce, herbs, beets and squash. And our late season selection is apple cider, tomatoes, peppers, spinach, winter squash, potatoes, carrots, beets, lettuces and more. If you are interested in this new way to obtain the freshest locally grown, chemical-free produce, call or write: Kretschmann Farm, 257 Zeigler Road, Rochester, PA 15074 or (412) 452.7189. Please tell all your friends and neighbors about this offer so we can be sure to have enough families to start the program this year!!! --Don & Becky Kretschmann ( Please do not respond to this account. I am only posting this for a friend. I do verify that this produce is some of the best I have ever tasted, however. )
