The issues boiled down to: kerosene heaters REQUIRE clear kerosene (perhaps not the exact term, but the highest grade) or else the burners clog or spit gummy residues (flaming) into their surroundings. You can get the proper grade, just not necessarily at your neighborhood gas station (supplies may be different due to demand or region), so many people ended up going back to the supplier of the heater, who had the right fuel, but at a much higher price. For short duty an electric heater might be as, if not more economical. For extended periods, you should look into the sealed box wood heaters- they're supposed to burn real slow & clean (besides, no kerosene fumes). Please let me know what you discover. Gene
