Department of Computer Science
Applications are invited for one, possibly two, positions at the
assistant professor level in the Computer Science Department at
the University of North Dakota.
The first one is a tenure-track position while the other, pending
approval, is a visiting position for at least one academic year.
Starting date is August 16, 1997. A Ph.D. in Computer Science or
related field is required. Applicants must have good communication
skills, commitment to excellence in teaching, broad teaching interests,
and ongoing scholarship. Preference will be given to candidates
specializing in applied database systems, human-computer interface
and/or software engineering. Opportunities for interdisciplinary
research in aerospace-related sciences are exceptional. Research
interests will be a major determining factor in the selection process.
The department has over 250 undergraduate and graduate students,
nine faculty members, and two part-time lecturers. It offers
undergraduate and master degrees (BS is accredited by CSAB). Students
and faculty have access to outstanding facilities and equipment,
including a Cray J90, workstations, high-end PCs, and X-terminals.
