	  The EECS Department invites applications for tenure track faculty positions in
	  Computer Science or Computer Engineering at all levels, as well as instructors. A
	  Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering,
 	  or the equivalent is required for tenure track positions. Outstanding candidates in
          all areas of computer science and computer engineering will be considered, but
          we are especially interested in operating systems, object oriented systems,
          programming languages/compilers, security, BCI, CAD, computer/communication
          networks, and distributed computing. Candidates should have strong research and
          teaching potential. 

          UIC is a growing research university and the largest institution of higher
          education in the Chicago area. The EECS Department has 50 faculty members
          and 500 graduate students, and offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees. The department
          has annual research expenditures of over $6.6 million and a faculty that consists
          of ten IEEE or ACM Fellows. The CS program was ranked 7th most improved
          nationwide by the most recent NRC survey of CS programs. The department's
          computing resources include over 200 workstations, and over 25,000 square feet
          of research space, much of it in a new Engineering Research Facility. For more

Dept. of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science

Applications are invited for the following positions, effective August 21, 1997. First, tenure track or tenured positions. Candidates in all areas of interest to the Department will be considered. The positions are initially budgeted at the Assistant Professor level, but candidates with a sufficiently outstanding research record may be considered at higher levels. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in mathematics or a related field, an outstanding research record, and evidence of strong teaching ability. Salary negotiable. Second, a Research Assistant Professorship. This is a non-tenure track position normally renewable annually to a maximum of three years. The position carries a teaching load of one course per semester, with the requirement that the incumbent play a significant role in the research life of the Department. The salary for AY 97--98 for this position is expected to be $40,000. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in mathematics, computer science, statistics, mathematics education or related field, and evidence of outstanding research potential.
