Faculty Positions

Applications are invited for tenure-track positions in Computer Science and/or Computer Engineering. Preference will be given to entry level candidates, but applications for all ranks will be considered. Duties include graduate and undergraduate teaching and obtaining and participating in sponsored research. Preference will be given to those candidates with a past record or strong potential for attracting externally supported research. Senior candidates must also show a history of leadership and be prepared to continue in a leadership role. Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. Rank and salary considerations will be based on qualifications; Ohio University provides competitive compensation. Qualified applicants in all areas of Computer Science and Computer Engineering are encouraged to apply, but special consideration will be given to candidates in Database, Operating Systems/Distributed Systems, and Computer Architecture/Compilers. The Computer Science program at Ohio University is a unit within the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in the Russ College of Engineering and Technology. At the undergraduate level, the College offers a BSCS degree in Computer Science as well as a BSEE with Computer Engineering option. Graduate students in Computer Science can pursue MS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering with Computer Science concentration, or an MS in Mathematics with a Computer Science option. The Computer Science program has access to the Stocker Endowment which generates roughly $400,000 per year of usable income for supporting research and graduate education. To establish research programs, new faculty are given special consideration in terms of an initial equipment budget and summer support. Applications will be accepted until Feb. 30, 1997. On-campus interviews of candidates will begin in late March.
