MONMOUTH UNIVERSITY

Computer Science Department


            Applications are invited for a tenure track position at the assistant
            professor level effective September 1, 1997. A Ph.D. in Computer
            Science is required. Candidates must have a strong interest in
            teaching, both at the graduate and undergraduate levels, in pursuing
            funded research and have demonstrated their research ability via
            publications. Research areas of particular interest include: Mobile
            Computing and Communications; Large Program Development Methods
            and Tools; Parallel and Distributed Computing; Expert Systems; and AI.


            Monmouth University, recently designated a teaching University by
            the State of New Jersey, has 5,100 students, of whom 1,200 are at the
            graduate level. Located along the Central Jersey shore approximately
            one hour south of New York City and 1.5 hours east of Philadelphia,
            Monmouth University's 138 acre, suburban campus is home to
            approximately 30 baccalaureate degree programs and 11 masters
            programs. 

            The School of Science, Technology and Engineering is comprised of
            the following departments: Biology; Chemistry/Physics/ 
            Medical Technology; Computer Science; Electronic Engineering;
            Mathematics; Software Engineering; and the Center for Technology
            Development and Transfer. The School serves about 15 percent of the
            University's students. All disciplines have undergraduate programs
            except Electronic Engineering and Software Engineering, which are
            exclusively masters programs. Software Engineering is one of a handful
            in the country and the only program of its type in New Jersey. 

            The Computer Science Department offers both undergraduate and
            graduate programs with over 250 students supported by
            state-of-the-art facilities. Monmouth University is located in
            Monmouth County, NJ, which is home to some of the world's leading
            high technology companies, particularly in the areas of
            telecommunications and computer/communicating systems.
