The Department of Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University invites applications for two anticipated tenure-track faculty positions of rank as appropriate. For the first position, we seek candidates with experimental research and teaching interests in networks and distributed systems, including Internet and Web-based applications, distributed and mobile computing, multimedia and network architectures. For the second position, we seek individuals from a broader range of areas, including experimental aspects of computer systems, security, programming language systems and computer graphics. All applicants must have a Ph.D. in computer science or a related field and are expected to have compiled an outstanding research record. Commitment to quality teaching, and evidence of the ability and willingness to develop a research program of the highest quality will be required of all the candidates considered. Desirable qualifications would include proficiency in Java, Lisp, CLOS, the X-Window System, Al techniques, database systems and open systems standards; engineering background and systems development experience; ability to serve as lead engineer for projects using object oriented methodologies and tools; demonstrated ability to procure funding; and experience integrating legacy systems and knowledge of intelligent agents.
